Hello! I’m Carys and I’m a freelance illustrator based between Barcelona and London.

I specialise in helping organisations with a cause to transform their messages into impactful visual narratives. Whether you’re looking for a single, editorial-style illustration rich in symbolism and story, or a whole comic that takes your audience on a journey, I can work with you to bring your vision to life.

I’ve worked with openDemocracy, Byline Times, Reprieve, Cornell University Press, Guillemot Press, the Right to Grow Campaign, Detention Action, and a range of private clients.

In my personal work, I’m fascinated by how comics can activate our empathetic imaginations and tune us in to the lives of others, whether human, birch tree, or cabbage white caterpillar. That curiosity shapes my client work too, which is always rooted in care for the lives a story is about.

Away from the drawing desk, you’ll most likely find me in a veg garden somewhere (I am trained as a market gardener), or making a mess in my kitchen. Until recently, I also worked for Friends of the Earth and then Platform London, leading a campaign against fossil fuel lobbying.

Let’s work together! Please get in touch via the contact form.
