Hello! I’m Carys and I’m a freelance illustrator based in Hackney, East London.

I am passionately curious about the potential that illustration — particularly comics practice — has to activate our empathetic imaginations, to sensitise us to the lives of others; be they human, birch tree, or cabbage white caterpillar. This curiosity is expressed in my personal work, which is currently focused on creating comics on agroecological themes.

I am really keen to work with collaborators and clients who share this curiosity, and others committed to broader climate and social justice themes. My previous and current illustration clients include: Byline Times, openDemocracy, Reprieve, Cornell University Press, Detention Action, and various private clients.

Alongside illustration, I lead the Fossil Free Parliament campaign at Platform London, working to restrict the influence of the fossil fuel lobby on climate and energy policymaking. I am also an entry-level market gardener, having completed a traineeship with Growing Communities last summer.
