Hello! I’m Carys and I’m a freelance illustrator based in Hackney, East London.

I am passionately curious about the potential that illustration — particularly comics practice — has to activate our empathetic imaginations and sensitise us to the lives of others; be they human, birch tree, or cabbage white caterpillar. This curiosity is expressed in my personal work, which is currently focused on creating comics on agroecological themes.

I am really keen to work with collaborators and clients who share this curiosity, and others committed to broader climate and social justice themes. My current and previous illustration clients include: openDemocracy, Byline Times, Reprieve, Cornell University Press, Guillemot Press, Detention Action, and various private clients.

Alongside illustration, I’m trained as a market gardener and, up until very recently, was working part-time as a climate campaigner – first for Friends of the Earth and then Platform London.
